George Santayana with swagger

Gerald Celente, president of Kingston, N.Y-based Trends Research Institute, and a 1969 U.C. graduate, makes reference to his 1995 book "Trends 2000" about events he predicted then that are unfolding today during a candid, yet lively lecture this evening at the Emma Byrd Gallery on political and economic trends. The Bronx native said "the first great war of the 21st century has begun" by drawing parallels between the Stock Market Crash of 1929, the Great Depression, international price and trade wars that culminated with World War II to the Finanical Collapse of 2008, the current recession and U.S. military intervention, and occupation in the Middle East. Aside from taking stock in the "Three G's" - gold, guns and a getaway plan - the self-described "political atheist" said things won't change "until we regain our morality" by focusing on values, such as quality, that once made America great.
